ToonieBet Ontario Summary

ToonieBet is new on the scene but has the right foundation required to be a top sportsbook in Ontario. I was impressed by the user-friendly website and dedicated mobile app, which have been optimized for smooth navigation and gameplay. You can easily toggle between the top leagues or sports with a simple scroll, all conveniently placed on the same side of your screen.

The live betting feature in particular exceeded my expectations, as it includes several quality-of-life features that make it one of the smoothest experiences of its kind in Ontario sports betting. Paired with the number of sports markets made available, ToonieBet certainly has the ball rolling in the right direction to rise to the top of the field.

ToonieBet is licensed globally through the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), with its headquarters in Birkirkara, Malta. It expanded to Canada in Apr. 2024 under the AGCO and iGaming Ontario, becoming fully functioning in Ontario.

ToonieBet covers essentially any sport you'd want to bet on. From the NFL to esports and even snooker, ToonieBet has markets for whichever sport you’re passionate about. 

NFL betting

ToonieBet offers a wide range of NFL betting options, including moneylines, spreads, totals, quarter/half-specific betting options, in-game wagers, and a decent selection of player props each Sunday during the season. ToonieBet also has over 150+ futures markets on both team and player props to get you primed for Week 1 of the regular season. 

NBA betting

There’s an abundance of betting options for NBA fans, as ToonieBet offers moneylines, spreads, totals, along with team and player props for every game. You can also place quarterly or halftime spreads, totals, and specials. 

College football

There are two main markets for college football betting on ToonieBet - NCAA Regular Season and Post Season. The regular season is when you’ll see your standard betting lines, including moneylines, spreads, and totals. Postseason gives you all of the futures options, including the National Championship winner, and every mid-major and power-5 conference winner.  

NHL betting

Similar to the NBA, ToonieBet offers moneylines, spreads, totals, player props and specials, and period lines for NHL betting. While we’re in the offseason, futures markets on the Stanley Cup winner and regular season awards are available to bet on. 

MLB betting

For all of the year-long sports bettors out there, ToonieBet makes it easy to place some baseball wagers during the dog days of summer. Along with the basic markets, it also has an extensive player prop list and in-game action (first inning totals, five innings run line/moneyline/totals). It's one of the more sizeable lists I’ve seen and should be a good fit for all baseball fans.

Other sports leagues

ToonieBet’s sports markets go far beyond the major professional sports leagues listed above. It has a serious selection of esports, including 10 markets with some of the most popular video games in the world, like League of Legends, Valorant, and Counter-Strike. 

It doesn’t get more niche than squash, snooker, or pesapallo, but ToonieBet has markets for all three at your disposal. 

Online betting experience

You’ll find there's nothing out of the ordinary about how ToonieBet lays out its desktop and mobile design. Sports menus on the left, betslip and list of popular wagers on the right, and markets in the middle. Live betting options are featured prominently with a convenient icon at the top of the site.

It's a tried-and-true sportsbook layout, but I think ToonieBet could stand to update its look a bit. For one, I was disappointed to see it uses what looks like AI-generated images, which makes the whole product look a little cheap. Thankfully, this only really affects the home page, as the other pages feature significantly less of this imagery. 

ToonieBet launched a mobile app for iOS and Android in Apr. 2024. Although the apps are relatively new, it's a big step up for ToonieBet in its mission to climb the Ontario sports betting apps rankings, as very few newer books seem to bother with dedicated apps.

Website experience

AI images aside, ToonieBet's website offers a sleek and user-friendly experience, with most of the information easy to follow. Navigation is intuitive, with quick access to sports betting and live options. The site loads quickly, and the layout is clean, with vibrant graphics enhancing engagement without overwhelming users. 

I’m personally a huge fan of the ‘Live’ box near the top left of the homepage. Once you’re in there, Tooniebet sorts every live betting event by the sport, followed by the league. I found this extremely easy to navigate, especially when you’re trying to get a bet off quickly before a market closes.

Mobile betting and betting app

I highly recommend downloading the ToonieBet mobile app. I can speak firsthand about the iOS version; it’s right up there with bet365 or BetMGM for the smoothest interface I’ve used. For those who only wish to use the mobile website, you can’t go wrong there, either. You still have access to all of the same markets you would using the dedicated app, with relatively quick load times.

Live betting

The live betting function is available on both the website and mobile devices. If you’re familiar with live betting, you will love the functionality of ToonieBet. The red 'Live' icon at the top of the screen brings you to every live event, sorted by sport, then by league. A hassle-free system, I've never been able to fire off live bets as easily and quickly as I have with ToonieBet. 

One aspect I wish Tooniebet offered is live betting futures markets during individual sports competitions. Wimbledon is currently taking place during the time of writing, and no outright winner markets have been available since the tournament started. 

Casino, poker, & other gaming options

ToonieBet brings a fun, well-rounded casino experience to Ontario players. If you love slots, you’re in luck - there are over 2,500 to choose from, including favourites like Big Bass Bonanza and Gates of Olympus. 

Table game fans aren’t left out either, with dozens of blackjack, roulette, and baccarat options, plus exciting twists like Evolution’s Lightning series. The live casino is a major highlight, offering nearly 200 games streamed in high quality with real dealers—think Monopoly Live and Sweet Bonanza Candyland for a game-show vibe. While there’s no dedicated poker room, you’ll still find fun poker variants like Caribbean Stud in the live section.
