Online casino operator High Roller Technologies has announced that it has applied for a license to operate in the Ontario online casino market.
High Roller, based in Nevada, operates casino brands Fruta and High Roller and is targeting the launch of HighRoller.com in the province in the second half of the year.
“The submission of our licensing application to access Ontario’s regulated online gambling market is an important milestone in our company’s journey. Once our application is approved, we anticipate that we will have the opportunity to launch our online casino product into the market later this year,” said the Chief Executive Officer at High Roller, Ben Clemes, in a statement.
High Roller operates in multiple regulated markets across the globe and offers a casino platform with over 5000 games from 90 different slot developers for players to enjoy.
“Ontario is missing an elegant brand like High Roller. We’re excited to roll out the red carpet for our new customers, and we’re looking forward to showcasing our tremendous product,” added Clemes.
Expanding opportunities
The commercial iGaming industry in Ontario launched in 2022 and was the first in Canada to expand iGaming and sports betting beyond a monopoly provider. In 2024, the regulated sector in Ontario generated CA$2.3 billion in gaming revenue, and figures for 2025 show that it is continuing to grow.
According to iGaming Ontario, year three revenue reached CA$3.2 billion. At the same time, its first quarter figures for April were the second-highest Ontario has seen at CA$313.3 million, a 6% month-on-month increase and just missing January’s total of CA$328.4 million.
High Roller operates in multiple jurisdictions, but Canada represents one of the most dynamic new markets in the global iGaming sector and offers expanding opportunities. The company has also indicated that it intends to expand its presence in Canada to the province of Alberta.
Alberta set for iGaming launch
High Roller is just one of many iGaming operators that will keenly watch events in the Alberta sports betting and Alberta online casino markets, where a competitive online gambling industry is around the corner.
Earlier this month, the Alberta provincial legislature passed Bill 48, also known as the iGaming Alberta Act, on its third reading. With the final stage of Royal Assent regarded as a formality, the province is set to become the second in Canada with an iGaming sector.
A new provincial government body, the Alberta iGaming Corporation, modeled after iGaming Ontario, will oversee the industry. The Corporation will also oversee the online gaming market and the licensing of operators.
According to the provincial government, setting up the Alberta iGaming Corporation will proceed in parallel with stakeholder discussions and drafting regulations, in conjunction with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission. However, these processes could take months to complete, pushing the market launch back to the end of 2025 or early 2026.
