Lane Hutson won the Calder Trophy, with the Montreal Canadiens rookie defenseman finishing ahead of Dustin Wolf and Macklin Celebrini in voting.

While Celebrini had the shortest Calder Trophy odds at our NHL betting sites for much of the season, Hutson enjoyed a superb second half of the season, finishing with more points and assists than any other rookie.

Hutson's odds shortened dramatically in the season's final two weeks after a torrid second half of the season. He finished with the most points among rookies (66) and the most assists (60). His 60 assists were 22 more than second-place Celebrini.

The rookie sensation had 10 times more assists than goals and led the Canadiens to the playoffs for the first time in four seasons. He finished with 165 of 191 available first-place votes.

He became just the fourth defenseman to lead rookies in scoring, joining rarified air filled by Bobby Orr, Brian Leetch, and Quinn Hughes.
